1. Who We Are
VidCrews is a creative crew marketplace serving the African film, television, and digital production industry. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Platform. By using VidCrews, you consent to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly — including your name, email address, phone number, profile photo, roles, location, day rate, and portfolio content. We also collect information generated by your use of the Platform, such as job applications submitted, bookings created, pages visited, and device/browser data. We do not collect payment card information — all payments happen directly between parties.
3. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to: (a) operate and improve the Platform; (b) display your profile to Hirers and other users; (c) send you notifications about applications, bookings, and account activity; (d) provide customer support; (e) detect and prevent fraud or abuse; (f) analyse usage patterns to improve features. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Profile Visibility
Creative profiles — including your name, photo, city, roles, and day rate — are publicly visible to all visitors of the Platform by default. You may update your availability status and control some visibility settings from your dashboard. Your email address and phone number are never displayed publicly.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (PostgreSQL), which employs industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We implement access controls to limit who can view sensitive data within our systems. While we take security seriously, no system is entirely immune to risk — please use a strong, unique password and do not share your credentials.
6. Cookies & Analytics
We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. We may use anonymised analytics to understand how users navigate the Platform. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect Platform functionality.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting and edge delivery), and WhatsApp (customer support). Each has their own privacy policies. We share only the minimum data necessary with these providers to operate the Platform.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to: (a) access the personal data we hold about you; (b) request correction of inaccurate data; (c) request deletion of your account and associated data; (d) object to processing of your data in certain circumstances. 9. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business reasons (such as resolving disputes). Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely.
10. Children's Privacy
VidCrews is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the Platform or by email. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
