Getting Started

What is VidCrews?

VidCrews is Africa's leading marketplace for video production professionals. Creatives — directors, cinematographers, editors, sound recordists, gaffers, and more — build profiles showcasing their work and rates. Hirers post jobs and book crew for their productions. Think of it as the home base for African production talent.

Is VidCrews free to use?

Creating a profile and browsing the directory is completely free. Posting jobs is currently free during our launch period. We plan to introduce optional paid features — like boosted profile visibility — in the future, but core functionality will remain free.

Which countries does VidCrews cover?

VidCrews is built for the entire African continent — Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, Ethiopia, and every country in between. We also welcome African creatives in the diaspora. Production happens everywhere; so do we.

Do I need to sign up to browse?

You can browse the creative directory and job listings without an account. To apply for jobs, post jobs, or create a creative profile, you'll need to sign up — it only takes a minute.

For Creatives

How do I create a creative profile?

Sign up with your email, then navigate to your Creative Dashboard. Fill in your roles, location, day rate, availability status, and bio. Upload a professional photo and add portfolio links or samples. A complete profile gets significantly more enquiries.

How do I set my day rate?

Your day rate is entirely your own decision. We provide a Rate Transparency Board showing typical rates by role and region to help you benchmark fairly. You're never locked into any rate — update it any time from your profile.

What does "Available Now" mean?

"Available Now" means you're actively looking for work and open to bookings immediately. You can also set your status to "Open to offers" (available but not urgently), or "Not available" (temporarily off the market). Keeping this updated means Hirers know when to reach out.

Can I list multiple roles?

Yes. Many African creatives wear multiple hats — you might be a DP who also does colour grading, or a director who also edits. List all your skills so you show up in more searches.

How do I get paid for bookings?

VidCrews does not process payments. Once a Hirer contacts you and you agree on terms, payment is handled directly between you and the Hirer. We strongly recommend agreeing on rate, payment schedule, and a deposit in writing before any shoot day.

For Hirers

How do I post a job?

Sign up or log in, then go to your Hirer Dashboard and click "Post a Job". Fill in the project type, required roles, location, budget range, and shoot dates. Your listing goes live immediately and is visible to all creatives on the Platform.

How do I find the right crew?

Use the Creative Directory to filter by role, country, and availability. Each profile shows the creative's roles, day rate, portfolio, and reputation score. You can also post a job and let creatives apply to you.

What is the Crew Builder?

Crew Builder is a tool that helps you assemble a full production team for a project. Select the roles you need and build a shortlist — great for planning a shoot before reaching out individually.

Are the rates on profiles negotiable?

Rates shown on profiles are the creative's stated day rate — a starting point for conversation. Whether they're negotiable depends on the individual. The Rate Transparency Board can help you understand market norms before you negotiate.

What happens after I post a job?

Creatives matching your listed roles can apply to your job. You'll receive applications in your Hirer Dashboard, where you can review applicants, see their profiles, and make contact directly. VidCrews facilitates the match — the booking conversation happens between you and the creative.

Trust & Safety

How does VidCrews verify creatives?

We currently rely on community reputation and profile completeness as trust signals. A high reputation score reflects positive booking history on the Platform. We are building a verified badge system for creatives who submit ID and proof of credits — coming soon.

What should I do if a user is behaving badly?

Contact us immediately via WhatsApp at +233 50 815 0481 with details of the incident. We take reports of harassment, fraud, or misrepresentation seriously and will investigate promptly. Users found to be in violation of our Terms of Service will be removed.

Is my personal data safe?

Yes. We take data security seriously. Your email and phone number are never displayed publicly. Profile data is stored encrypted using industry-standard infrastructure. Read our full Privacy Policy for complete details.
